Is the Lunar Sabbath Biblical? (Proof the Lunar Calendar Is False in Scripture)

The lunar sabbath is a teaching that claims the Sabbath is determined by the phases of the moon rather than a continuous seven-day cycle. Those who follow this doctrine use the moon to reset the weekly cycle each month. 

The lunar calendar is centered around the idea that the new moon begins the month. 

But is this teaching actually found in Scripture, or is it a man-made doctrine that contradicts the Word of Yahuah?

There is no command anywhere in Scripture to observe the Sabbath according to the moon. Not in the Torah, not in the prophets, and not in the writings. The idea of a lunar sabbath is completely absent from the Word of Yahuah.  

There is no command anywhere in Scripture that says the month begins with the first sighting of the new moon. 

Below are clear scriptural and logical reasons why the lunar sabbath and lunar calendar cannot be biblical:

Reasons why the Lunar Sabbath/Lunar Calendar is false

1. The moon’s cycles only has 354 days per year. NOT 364. Jubilee 6:32 clearly states a year is 364 days. NOT 354!
2. The moon’s monthly cycle is 29.5 days and contradicts Enoch directly which tells us the months are in a 30, 30, 31 day pattern.
3. No scripture commands Yashar’el to use moon cycles to determine the Sabbath. NONE! Not one! Zero!
4. Not one time in scripture have we EVER seen ANYONE looking for a moon cycle to track the Sabbath! EVER! It never happened!
5. Yahuah appointed THE SUN to determine the Sabbath. NOT the moon per Jubilee 2:9
6. Genesis 1:14 states that “the lights” are to determine appointed feasts, days, and years. NOT just the moon alone!
7. No where in the entire Torah is the moon mentioned in reference to the Sabbath at all!
8. Jubilee 6:36-38 clearly warns us NOT to observe the moon for months and Sabbaths despite the false teachings of doing so
9. Enoch clearly teaches us how to calculate Abib 1 in chapter 72 and it does NOT involve the moon
10. Enoch also teaches us that the moon is the inferior light. It is NOT the 1st law of the luminaries
11. People who follow a false lunar Sabbath are only using the moon in their calendar and not the Sun AND the moon AND the stars
12. The lunar calendar has 1-2 days where the moon is dark and cannot be seen, which are often referred to as “transitional days” which causes you to break the commandment of work 6 days and rest on the 7th day. This is absolute nonsense! 
13. Jubilees 6:29 tells us there are 13 weeks between seasons. There are not 13 weeks between new moons! Not even close!
14. Jubilees 6:30 tells us there are 52 weeks in a year. The lunar calendar year does not have 52 weeks. 
15. Lunar calendar have no priestly courses like the original calendar during King David’s temple era (1st Chronicles 24)
16. Lunar calendar followers end up having to add an additional month every few years to account for the 10 missing days each year and they add up! There is NO 13th month ANYWHERE in scripture! Period!

There is no scripture that tells you that the “new moon” begins the month. Not one. People are following a false doctrine that is being spread by false teachers. If anyone can show just ONE scripture that CLEARLY says “a month begins at the first sliver of the new moon” then I take it all back and I repent. But they can’t because there is no such scripture at all period. However there ARE scriptures that says the “moon” does NOT begin the month. So you have to decide between believing your false man made doctrine or are you going to believe what Yahuah told Moses when He gave him the laws. It’s your choice. I have had to humble myself when I fell for the same false belief and I had to correct myself. Here’s your proof right here….

And on the fourth day he created the sun and the moon and the stars, and set them in the expanse of the heaven, to give light upon all the earth, and to rule over the day and the night, and divide the light from the darkness. And Elohiym appointed THE SUN to be a great sign on the earth for days and for Shabbaths and for months and for feasts and for years and for Shabbaths of years and for jubilees and for all seasons of the years. Yovheliym (Jubilees) 2:9

Did you catch it?? You see it? It says that Yahuah appointed THE SUN for not only days and Sabbaths, BUT ALSO FOR MONTHS AND FEAST! NOT THE NEW MOON!

Here’s a WARNING to those who look to the moon for months and Sabbaths. It’s clearly written right here by Moses, who is the law giver to Yashar’al. Yahuah gave Moses the laws and Moses gave them to Yahshar’al. This is well known and not disputed. Moses never ever not once told Yashar’al to use any of these false methods of tracking the moon for Sabbaths nor using these other methods of the Sabbath always being the 2nd, 15th, 22nd, and 29th. ALL FALSE MAN MADE DOCTRINE. If Moses did not teach it that means it’s made up. Period. Yahuah’s word is CLEAR and FINAL! 

For there will be those who will assuredly make observations of the moon how it disturbs the seasons and comes in from year to year ten days too soon. For this reason the years will come upon them, when they will disturb the order, and make an abominable day the day of testimony, and an unclean day a feast day, and they will confound all the days, the holy with the unclean, and the unclean day with the holy; for they will go wrong as to the months and Shabbaths and feasts and jubilees. For this reason I command and testify to you that you may testify to them; for after your death your children will disturb them, so that they will not make the year three hundred and sixty-four days only, and for this reason they will go wrong as to the months and seasons and Shabbaths and feasts, and they will eat all kinds of blood with all kinds of flesh. Yovheliym (Jubilees) 6:36-38

This is a clear warning, and prophecy that obviously came true, that ONE DAY the children of Yashar’al will go astray and start looking to the moon cycles and using it to dictate the months, Sabbaths, Feasts, and Jubilees. The scriputre says that they will DISTURB THE ORDER. I’m not sure why in some people’s mind, they think this is a good thing. It is not! Yahuah knew one day that His children would completety ruin the calulation of time and ruin the order of the calendar by using lunar cycles. This isn’t really difficult to understand. Those ignoring this prophecy very well might be under the strong delusion that Paul warned us about! 

The sun AND the moon AND the stars ALL TOGETHER determine when the year begins, when the 1st month begins and Enoch teaches us how to count the months from there going forward. You must apply ALL of the scriptures and not just some. 

Here’s where the false new moon sabbath doctrine comes from…

The Hebrew word for moon is “yerach” (H3391)

Each time you see the phrase “new moon” it literally is suppose to say “new month” or “renewing of months” or “beginning of months” or  just simply “month.”

This does NOT mean that every single time the word “moon” is written, that it is suppose to say “month.” I’m already aware of false teachers saying this but it is being said with out thought or common sense. The word moon is used correctly in some verses. Such as Sirach 43:6, which I will also address. Sirach is a book of wisdom and poetry. Very great and insiteful wisdom might I add! However! The author is talking about how great Yahuah’s creations are. He is NOT teaching you to use the moon for the entire function of the calendar! Context is EVERYTHING!
