Modesty: Has it been forgotten?

Modesty

The definition of Modesty is 1.the quality of being modest; freedom from vanity, boastfulness, etc. 2. regard for decency of behavior, speech, dress, etc. 3. simplicity; moderation. 4. Neither bold nor self-assertive; decent. Synonyms: shy, chaste.

I will start from the beginning and how Adam and Hawwah dressed themselves. Bereshith/Genesis 3:7 – Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made loin coverings for themselves. So they only covered their private parts. Now let’s see how Yahuah dressed them. Bereshith/Genesis 3:21 – And יהוה Alahiym made coats of skin for the man and his wife and dressed them.  Adam and Hawwah were not covered enough so Yahuah had to cover them over again. The word coat is the Hebrew 3801 and it means to cover, a shirt: coat, garment, robe. So we see that covering up is very important to the Most High. Also, this is the first animal sacrifice which symbolizes a covering.

If we show our thigh, it is considered nakedness:

Exodus 28:42  “And make linen trousers for them, to cover their nakedness, reaching from the waist to the thighs.”

Isaiah 47:2-3 “Take the millstones and grind flour. Remove your veil, lift up the skirt, uncover the leg, pass through rivers.
Let your nakedness be uncovered, let your shame also be exposed. I take vengeance, and meet no man.”

Nakedness is considered a shame in scripture:

Isaiah 20:2-4 “at that same time יהוה spoke by means of Yeshayahu son of Amots, saying, “Go, and remove the sackcloth from your body, and take your sandals off your feet. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.”  And יהוה said, “As My servant Yeshayahu has walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and a wonder against Mitsrayim and Kush, so does the sovereign of Ashshur lead away the captives of Mitsrayim and the exiles of Kush, young and old, naked and barefoot, with their buttocks uncovered – the shame of Mitsrayim.”

Yahuah purposefully had Yeshayahu uncover his nakedness as a sign against Mitsrayim and Kush. Our ancestors were also naked and barefoot on those slave ships as a sign of our disobedience to Yahuah.

*In your spare time go to Wayyiqra/ Leviticus 18 where it talks about the sins of uncovering nakedness.

Modesty is not just an apparel issue, it’s a behavior issue:

1 Timothy 2:9-10 “Likewise, that the women dress themselves becomingly, with decency and sensibleness, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly garments, but with good works, which is becoming for women undertaking worship of Alahiym.”

1 Peter 3:4-6  “but the hidden Man of the heart, with the incorruptible ornament of a meek and peaceable spirit, which is of great value before Alahiym. For in this way, in former times, the set-apart women who trusted in Alahiym also adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Aḇraham, calling him master, of whom you became children, doing good, and not frightened by any fear.”

So we should exhibit a meek and peaceable spirit as women of Zion and reverence our husbands with wisdom and understanding. This took me to Proverbs 7 which shows us how not to be.

Proverbs 7:4-27 “Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” And call understanding a close friend, To guard you against the strange woman, Against the foreigner who flatters with her words. For at the window of my house I looked through my lattice, And I saw among the simple, I perceived among the youths, A young man lacking heart, Passing through the street near her corner; And he went the way to her house In the twilight, in the evening, In the black and dark night. And look, a woman met him, Dressed like a whore, With a hidden heart. She was boisterous and stubborn, Her feet did not stay at her own house. Now in the street, Now in the square, And at every corner she lurks. And she took hold of him and kissed him; She hardened her face and said to him: “Peace offerings are with me; Today I have paid my vows. “Therefore I came out to meet you, To earnestly seek your face, and I found you. “I have spread my bed with coverings, Coloured linens of Mitsrayim. “I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. “Come, let us take our fill of love until morning; Let us delight ourselves with love. “For my husband is not at home; He has gone on a long journey; “He took a bag of silver with him; He comes home on the day of the new moon.” With her many words she leads him astray, With her smooth lips she seduces him. He goes after her immediately, Like an ox he goes to the slaughter, And as in chains, a fool to the punishment, Till an arrow strikes through his liver; Like a bird rushing into a snare, And did not know it would take his life. And now, listen to me, you children; Pay attention to the words of my mouth: Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not go astray in her paths. For many are the wounded she has caused to fall, And numerous all her slain ones. Her house is the way to the grave, Going down to the rooms of death.”

Sisters, no one but your husband should see your breast, thighs, butt, or any other intimate part of your body. We should not be like this Proverbs 7 woman who has a hidden heart. We should strive to be like the Proverbs 31 woman who deals with the affairs of her home. Our bodies are the temple of Yahuah and it need to be kept sacred and secret, and we need to be covered.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Or do you not know that your body is the Dwelling Place of the Set-apart Spirit who is in you, which you have from Alahiym, and you are not your own? For you were bought with a price, therefore esteem Alahiym in your body and in your spirit, which are of Alahiym.”

Romans 12:1-2 “I call upon you, therefore, brothers, through the compassion of Alahiym, to present your bodies a living offering – set-apart, well-pleasing to Alahiym – your reasonable worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you prove what is that good and well-pleasing and perfect desire of Alahiym.”

Are we supposed to follow the fashion of the world that promote low shirts, short skirts, tight clothing that reveal our shapes, and bras and panties as bathing suits or should we dress set-apart to Yahuah having respect and honor for him? Not only him, but respect for ourselves, our husbands (if we have one) and the husband of our sisters as well (who are our brothers). We should definitely be considerate of married men because we can cause them to sin. Not only through the way we look, but also through our conversation and smile. We should not be conversing with men about personal issues if we are married. It will cause them to become attached and eventually fall into a trap.

Sirach 9:8-9 “Turn away your eyes from a shapely woman, and do not look intently at beauty belonging to another; many have been misled by a woman’s beauty, and by it passion is kindled like a fire. Never dine with another man’s wife, nor revel with her at wine; lest your heart turn aside to her, and in blood you be plunged into destruction.

Wearing revealing clothing and/or acting loose is not good for anyone overall. It can cause some women to gossip, some men to lust, and the women who wear the revealing clothing can be boastful or proud due to the attention they are getting.  Immodesty is more than wearing a short skirt or low top; it’s the act of drawing undo attention to yourself. It’s pride on display. Immodesty can also be a sign of low self-esteem. I hear women use excuses like these to continue to be immodest: 1) the weather is hot 2) everybody does it 3) it’s fashionable 4) my husband doesn’t mind (5) or, it doesn’t matter because men don’t pay attention to me anyway (but they forget that Yah see everything). Our dress should exalt Alahiym and not ourselves. Modesty is humility. Your wardrobe is a public statement of your personal and private motivation. If you are using your dress to seduce men or to be admired by men then that is not glorifying the Most High, it’s glorifying yourself.  We present a picture of Yahuah in the way we present ourselves. Our stance should be to model a humble and teachable spirit and dress with modesty. How you dress matters to Yahuah and it also matters to those of the faith. You never realize how important your clothing is until you realize how important you are to Alahiym. Cover up for the glory of Yahuah, and if you are married, for the good of your husband. And if you are single, a potential husband will definitely respect your modesty as a daughter of Zion.

We are called to be set-apart as Deuteronomy 14:2 and Deuteronomy 26:17-19 reveal. Let’s not be like the seductive women in Isaiah 3:16-26. We should be associated with words like modest, sober, meek, quiet, submissive, moderate, calm, and gentle. Not words like hot, sexy, revealing, or provocative.  My question to you is, “What does your clothes say about you?

Deuteronomy 14:2  “for you are a set-apart people to יהוה your Alahiym, and יהוה has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a treasured possession above all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.”

Deuteronomy 26:17-19  “You have today caused יהוה to proclaim to be your Alahiym, and to walk in His ways and guard His laws, and His commands, and His right-rulings, and to obey His voice. “And יהוה has caused you to proclaim today to be His people, a treasured possession, as He has spoken to you, and to guard all His commands, so as to set you high above all nations which He has made, for a praise, and for a name, and for esteem, and for you to be a set-apart people to יהוה your Alahiym, as He has spoken.”

Isaiah 3:16-26  “And יהוה says, “Because the daughters of Tsiyon are haughty, and walk with outstretched necks and seductive eyes, walking and mincing as they go, making a jingling with their feet, therefore יהוה shall smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Tsiyon, and יהוה expose their nakedness.” In that day יהוה takes away the finery of the anklets, and the headbands, and the crescents, the pendants, the bracelets and the veils, the headdresses, and the leg ornaments, and the sashes, and the perfume bottles, and the amulets, the rings, and the nose jewels, the costly robes, and the cloaks, and the shawls, and the purses, the mirrors, and the fine linen, and the turbans, and the large veils.  And it shall be: Instead of a sweet fragrance, a smell of decay; and instead of a belt, a rope; and instead of well-set hair, baldness; and instead of a festal robe, a girding of sackcloth; and branding instead of loveliness. Your men shall fall by the sword, and your strength in battle. And her gates shall lament and mourn, and she, deserted, shall sit on the ground.

1 Peter 2:9-12  But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a set-apart nation, a people for a possession, that you should proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light, who once were not a people, but now the people of Alahiym; who had not obtained compassion, but now obtained compassion. Beloved ones, I appeal to you as sojourners and pilgrims, to abstain from fleshly lusts which battle against the life, having your behaviour among the gentiles good so that when they speak against you as evil-doers, let them, by observing your good works, esteem Alahiym in a day of visitation.

Submission To Our Husbands

Image

Submission

The definition of Submit is 1. to give over or yield to the power or authority of another  2. to subject to some kind of treatment or influence  3. to defer to another’s judgment, opinion, decision, etc.

In order to get a better understanding of submission, let’s look at what the scriptures reveal about a relationship between man and woman and how it should be structured.  Let’s start at the beginning with Genesis 3:1-16:

And the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which יהוה Alahiym had made, and he said to the woman, “Is it true that Alahiym has said, ‘Do not eat of every tree of the garden’?” And the woman said to the serpent, “We are to eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, Alahiym has said, ‘Do not eat of it, nor touch it, lest you die.’ ” And the serpent said to the woman, “You shall certainly not die. “For Alahiym knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be like Alahiym, knowing good and evil.” And the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, and she took of its fruit and ate. And she also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made loin coverings for themselves. And they heard the sound of יהוה Alahiym walking about in the garden in the cool of the day, and Aḏam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of יהוה Alahiym among the trees of the garden. And יהוה Alahiym called unto Aḏam and said to him, “Where are you?” And he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid myself.” And He said, “Who made you know that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you that you should not eat?” And the man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I ate.” And יהוה Alahiym said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” And יהוה Alahiym said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all livestock and more than every beast of the field. On your belly you are to go, and eat dust all the days of your life. “And I put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed1. He shall crush your head, and you shall crush His heel.” Footnote: 1First promise of the Messiah. To the woman He said, “I greatly increase your sorrow and your conception – bring forth children in pain. And your desire is for your husband, and he does rule over you.”

Sisters, this is a lesson that we should not be listening to men who don’t agree with what we know to be true, especially if we are married and our husbands taught us something and the man is trying to convince us otherwise.  This scripture also shows us the qualities of men that we should not consider as mates: the man who will sit around and say nothing while we are making mistakes.  Adam was right there next to Hawwah when she was talking to the serpent and ate the forbidden fruit.  If a man really loves you he will correct you for the sake of your relationship and lead how he was meant to lead according to scripture.  I’m not talking about a slavery type of correction but a gentle teaching kind of correction. Our punishment for eating the forbidden fruit is 1) pain in childbirth and 2) our desire will be for our husband and he will rule over us.

What is the meaning of our desire?

H8669

תּשׁוּקה

teshûqâh

tesh-oo-kaw’

From H7783 in the original sense of stretching out after; a longing: – desire.

The root word is:

H7783

שׁוּק

shûq

shook

A primitive root; to run after or over, that is, overflow: – overflow, water.

We all can probably relate to the word shook. 🙂 Now, let’s look at the word rule in v.16:

H4910

משׁל

mâshal

maw-shal’

A primitive root; to rule: – (have, make to have) dominion, governor, X indeed, reign, (bear, cause to, have) rule (-ing, -r), have power.

I can see why some women get scared when they hear the word submission.  I’m so thankful that the world’s view of submission is different from scripture’s view of submission.

Let’s go to Ephesians 5:22-33:

Wives, subject yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Master. Because the husband is head of the wife, as also the Messiah is head of the assembly, and He is Saviour of the body. But as the assembly is subject to Messiah, so also let the wives be to their own husbands in every respect. Husbands, love your wives, as Messiah also did love the assembly and gave Himself for it, in order to set it apart and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word,1 Footnote: 1Rev. 19:8-9. in order to present it to Himself a splendid assembly, not having spot or wrinkle or any of this sort, but that it might be set-apart and blameless. In this way husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but feeds and cherishes it, as also the Master does the assembly. Because we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. “For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” This secret is great, but I speak concerning Messiah and the assembly. However, you too, everyone, let each one love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she fears her husband.

This scripture shows a great analogy which is: Messiah is to Assembly as Man is to Woman. If a man is under the authority of Messiah, he will know that a woman being in subjection to him is not a dictatorship.  Yahusha came to serve the assembly by giving His life for it.  That should be the case with the husband. He should love his wife and protect and cover her at all cost. It does not mean domination, discrimination or any other nasty word that comes with the world’s mental definition of the word submission. This passage speaks about the man loving his wife as Messiah love the assembly and gave Himself for it (v.25).  The man will not want another man to talk down to him so why should he talk down to his wife? A man will not want another man to make him feel like a slave so why should he want to make his wife feel like one? Although the man is the head of the home he should not be a dominatrix to her by abusing her mentally nor physically. He should love her as he loves himself.

We as women have our part as well.  We should reverence our husbands (and if we don’t have one yet, we should be reverencing Alahiym).  We were made to be helpers for our men. We are not equal to them, nor should we want to be. Men have a lot of responsibility on their shoulders.  Yahuah will hold the man accountable for his family.  They are our protectors, providers, and our covering.  We all have a part that makes the relationship great.  If we want to be the man, who would they be?  It only leaves one position and that is to be the woman and we all don’t want our men to be subject to that position. Proverbs 18:22 says: He who has found a wife has found good, And receives favour from יהוה.

By him having us women, he is favored so if he knows scripture he will know how much of a blessing we are to them. Our roles are different and without each role there will be lack in the relationship. Let’s go to 1 Corinthians 11:3; then we will jump down to verse 8-12.

And I wish you to know that the head of every man is the Messiah, and the head of woman is the man, and the head of Messiah is Alahiym. For man is not from woman, but woman from man. For man also was not created for the woman, but woman for the man. Because of this the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the messengers. However, man is not independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Master. For as the woman was from the man, even so the man also is through the woman. But all are from Alahiym.

When we know our roles the household will run smoothly.  Yahuah is not the author of confusion.  He set an order and we have to submit to it.  Colossians 3:18-19 says:

Wives, subject yourselves to your own husbands, as is proper in the Master. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them.

Also, 1 Timothy 5:8 says:

And if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the belief and is worse than an unbeliever.

We as women should always provide for our homes and take care of our responsibility so that we won’t go against Yahuah. Also, if our husbands are not providing for us and being mean and bitter towards us, are we to return the same actions to them? No.  (We can always refer to the story of Abigail and how she still honored her husband during harsh times – 1 Samuel 25). We will see in the next scripture that Yahuah will not even listen to our husbands’ prayers when we are at odds with each other.  When our husbands’ prayers are not being answered it can affect the whole household.  We have to help our men to get it together with us and the Most High.  Let’s go to 1 Peter 3:1-9:

In the same way, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that if any are disobedient to the Word, they, without a word, might be won by the behaviour of their wives, having seen your blameless behaviour in fear. Your adornment should not be outward – arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on dresses –  but the hidden Man of the heart, with the incorruptible ornament of a meek and peaceable spirit, which is of great value before Alahiym.  For in this way, in former times, the set-apart women who trusted in Alahiym also adorned themselves, being subject to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Aḇraham, calling him master, of whom you became children, doing good, and not frightened by any fear. In the same way, husbands, live understandingly together, giving respect to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the favour of life, so that your prayers are not hindered. To sum up, let all of you be like-minded, sympathetic, loving as brothers, tenderhearted, humble-minded, not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, in order to inherit a blessing.

I will be the first to admit that I’m not all the way there when it comes to “not saying a word” according to verse 1 because I like to try to prove my point. I have to bite my tongue and just be quiet and let the Ruach reveal to my husband the matter at hand so that we can avoid an argument.  Verse 3 and 4 is talking about the importance of having our hearts right above the focus of the outward appearance. When the inside is in order, the outside is sure to follow.  We can cover our heads and wear modest clothing all day, but if we are not first modest in our hearts it means nothing to Yahuah.  Having a meek and peaceable spirit means much more because Yahuah sees our heart.  Verse 6 shows that Sarah called Abraham master.  Sarah showed respect for her husband and it was acknowledged as good in the eyes of Yahuah.  We are to exhibit the same attitude to our husbands and teach young women and our children to do the same.

Let’s turn to Titus 2:3-5:

the older women likewise are to be set-apart in behaviour, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of what is good, in order for them to train the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be sensible, blameless, workers at home, good, subject to their own husbands, in order that the word of Alahiym is not evil spoken of.

In closing, we all should strive to do all that the Word of Alahiym says to do.  If the Word says to be subject to our husbands then we need to do it.  We have to tear the layers of the world away which teaches us to be independent and that we rule the world as Beyonce put it.  In our daily lives we submit to police officers, teachers, the government, and employers with no problem, so when we come home we should not have an issue with submitting to our husbands and/or to the Most High.  Let’s hide these words in our heart so that we won’t sin again Yahuah (Psalms 119:11  I have treasured up Your word in my heart, That I might not sin against You).  The only way that we can truly submit to our husbands without difficulty is to be in submission to Yahuah first.  We have to stay in the Word and love with the love of Yah who loves unconditionally.  We have to tap into His love to be able to love others.  Let’s serve others unselfishly and in doing so we will be blessed and highly favored!  HalleluYah!

Baruck Haba Bashem Yahuah!

Do you carry DNA of former lovers in your body?

What do you guys think of this article? Very interesting! This is why a lot of women act like men in relationships! Not good!

Posted in pregnancypsychologysciencesex by jenapincott on January 28, 2011

This bit of science arcanum is especially cringe-worthy.

Many years ago, scientists first discovered that a large minority of women have Y-chromosome gene sequences in their blood. At first glance, this seems strange. Men are born with Y-chromosomes but most women are not. The male cells in these women must’ve come from somewhere else.

But where?

The most obvious source is a fetus. Nearly every woman who has ever been pregnant or had a baby has cells from her fetus circulating in her bloodstream. These cells filter through the placenta and reside in the mother’s bloodstream and/or organs — including her heart and brain — for the rest of her life. This condition is called microchimerism, named after the Greek chimera, a creature composed of the parts of multiple animals. Pregnancy-related microchimerism explains why women with sons would have Y-chromosome sequences in their blood.

This is fascinating enough. But how do you explain why women without sons also have male cells circulating in their bloodstream?

This was the subject of a study by immunologists at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. They took blood samples from 120 women without sons and found that 21 percent of them had male DNA. Women were then categorized into four groups according to pregnancy history: women with daughters only, spontaneous abortions, induced abortions, and no children/no abortions.

While the number of women bearing male DNA was highest in the groups that had abortions (nearly 80 percent), women who had only girls or no babies (20 percent) also had male cells in their blood. For no apparent reason.

There are other reasons why women in the fourth group carried male cells: inherited in the womb from a male twin that passed, from a miscarriage they did not know about, from their mother via an older brother…

Or through sexual intercourse.

There remains a possibility, however remote, that cells from a lover may pass be transmitted during sex. Those cells may hang out forever in the recipient’s body, taking residence in any organ. These cells are the imprint of lovers past, a trace of living history.

Might a woman’s bodily fluids enter a cut in a man’s genitals as well? Could men carry around the genes of women they’ve slept with?

The imagination is stirred. What are those foreign cells doing in hearts and minds? Are they wreaking havoc in our heads? Do the cells of former lovers clash? In a science fiction scenario a person could even take a drop of her own blood, isolate a cell from her former boyfriend, and clone him. Then do with him what she will.

The upshot of this research? It’s yet another reason to use a condom.

Texting or Emailing in Relationships

Texting or Emailing in Relationships

In light of the recent texting of bad news from the Malaysian Authorities to the missing airplane victims’ family, I thought I’d talk about texting and emailing in relationships.

The biggest mistake we make as couples is communicating through text and email. Things get misconstrued very quickly. It seems much easier to text nasty things to your mate than to actually SAY those same things in person. If couples are talking about important issues in the relationship, it’s best to stop the conversation via text/email and continue the conversation face to face.

With text/emails, there is a lot of guessing going on as to what the other person meant by what they said. When we assume something, it can get very ugly very quickly. Usually in text/emails, messages are way more shorter than it would be if you were on the phone or face to face. Looking someone in the eyes is the best communication to me. You can really see where they are coming from.

NEVER TEXT/EMAIL ANGRY! So many relationship end that way. THINK BEFORE SENDING.

For people who are “dating” in this day and age, it would seem hard to connect on a personal level if all you do is text each other. No interaction would seem weird to me. I would question the person if all they want to do is text and not talk on the phone, see each other, or even Skype each other. Something would seem fishy to me, but that’s my personal opinion. I would never go for that if I were single. I guess I’m old school…

I hate when you send this long text of information to someone and they respond with a couple words!! But the worst thing I hate is if you text someone and they don’t respond at all! That’s why I personally limit my talking via text/email. It’s my pet-peeve!

PLEASE DON’T TEXT AND DRIVE. PEOPLE DIE EVERYDAY FROM DOING THAT! IT CAN WAIT!!

Why Are Women So Hateful And Jealous Towards Each Other?

Why Are Women So Hateful And Jealous Towards Each Other?

Why can’t women get along?? We are always at odds with each other over petty stuff. This has got to stop! As women, we should be uplifting and encouraging each other instead of talking about each other behind our backs. Why do women feel more comfortable taking to men than they do their own sisters! Women, we need to get it together and unite. We should be sharing recipes, parenting skills, and all other things women do. Let’s build the Kingdom and stop tearing it down with envy, jealousy, and dislike because of color or size or marital status. This type of drama will NOT be allowed in the Kingdom so let’s fix this now…today! Shalum!
