Sukkot is one of Yahuah’s appointed times — a feast of rejoicing, remembrance, dwelling in booths, family gathering, and giving thanks before Yahuah. 🌿🍇🍞

🌿 WHY DO WE DWELL IN BOOTHS?

Yahuah commanded the children of Yashar’el to dwell in booths so that every generation would remember His deliverance from Mitsrayim.

Sukkot is a memorial to remind us of the building of booths during our ancestors’

wanderings in the wilderness

The booth is not just decoration.

It is a memorial. 🕊️

It reminds us that:

• 🌿 Yahuah tabernacled amongst His people and blessed and protected them

• 🏕️ Yashar’el dwelt in temporary shelters

• 🙏🏾 In celebrating it, it reminds us that YAHUAH will establish His Kingdom and fulfill His Promises

• 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Our children learn more about this Feast and how we will be keeping it in the future when Yahusha returns and rules as king on earth!

• 🎉 We are commanded to rejoice before Him and enjoy a Shabbat and Feast on the 1st and 8th day

• 🙌🏽 This Feast reminds us that Yahuah has pitched His tent with Yashar’el and dwells with us!

The 1st day of Sukkot and the 8th Day Assembly are Shabbat days.

That means:

✅ No servile work
✅ No ordinary business or buying/selling
✅ Gather for a Holy convocation
✅ Rejoice before Yahuah
✅ Prepare and enjoy Feast meals

🔥 Cooking and Feast preparation are permitted because this is a Feast of rejoicing.

📖 Wayiqra 23:36

The eighth day is a separate set-apart assembly following the seven days of Sukkot.

And Yahuah spoke unto Mosheh, saying: Speak unto the children of Yashar’el, saying: The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Cukkoth for seven days unto Yahuah. On the first day shall be a holy assembly: ye shall do no servile work therein. (Leviticus) 23:33-35 

Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto Yahuah seven days: on the first day shall be a Shabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a Shabbath. And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before Yahuah Elohaykem seven days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto Yahuah seven days in the year. It shall be a statute forever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. Ye shall dwell in cukkoth seven days; all that are Yashar’el born shall dwell in cukkoth: That your generations may know that I made the children of Yashar’el to dwell in cukkoth, when I brought them out of the land of Mitsrayim: I am Yahuah Elohaykem. Vayiqra (Leviticus) 23:39-43 

And he built cukkoth for himself and for his servants on this feast, and he was the first to celebrate the Feast of Cukkoth on the earth. And during these seven days he brought each day to the altar an ascending smoke offering to Yahuah, two oxen, two rams, seven sheep, one he goat, for a sin offering, that he might atone thereby for himself and for his seed. And, as a thank offering, seven rams, seven kids, seven sheep, and seven he goats, and their fruit offerings and their drink offerings; and he burnt all the fat thereof on the altar, a chosen offering unto Yahuah for a sweet-smelling savor. And morning and evening he burnt fragrant substances, frankincense and galbanum, and stacte, and nard, and myrrh, and spice, and costum; all these seven he offered, crushed, mixed together in equal parts and pure. And he celebrated this feast during seven days, rejoicing with all his heart and with all his soul, he and all those who were in his house, and there was no stranger with him, nor any that was uncircumcised. And he blessed his Creator who had created him in his generation, for he had created him according to his good pleasure; for he knew and perceived that from him would arise the plant of righteousness for the eternal generations, and from him a holy seed, so that it should become like him who had made all things. And he blessed and rejoiced, and he called the name of this feast the Feast of Yahuah, a joy acceptable to El Elyon. And we blessed him forever, and all his seed after him throughout all the generations of the earth, because he celebrated this feast in its season, according to the testimony of the heavenly tablets.

For this reason it is ordained on the heavenly tablets concerning Yashar’el, that they shall celebrate the Feast of Cukkoth seven days with joy, in the seventh month, acceptable before Yahuah a statute forever throughout their generations every year. And to this there is no limit of days; for it is ordained forever regarding Yashar’el that they should celebrate it and dwell in cukkoth, and set wreaths upon their heads, and take leafy boughs, and willows from the brook. And Avraham took branches of palm trees, and the fruit of goodly trees, and every day going round the altar with the branches seven times a day in the morning, he praised and gave thanks to his Elohiym for all things in joy. And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Leviyiym, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the Torah. And they found written in the Torah which Yahuah had commanded by Mosheh, that the children of Yashar’el should dwell in cukkoth in the feast of the seventh month: And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Yerushalayim, saying: Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make cukkoth, as it is written. So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves cukkoth, everyone upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of Elohiym, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephrayim. And all the assembly of them that were come again out of the captivity made cukkoth and sat under the cukkoth: for since the days of Yahusha the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Yashar’el done so. And there was very great gladness. Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the Cepher of the Torah of Elohiym. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner. (Nehemiah) 8:13-18
